Kukur Tihar Celebrated in Bangalore

Bangalore 29th October – Dogsee Chew hosted a first ever ‘Kukur Tihar (Dog Puja)’ in Bangalore in partnership with TherPupBangalore’s first Dog Cafe.

Tihar is a five-day-long festival which is usually celebrated in Nepal and the Indian states of Assam, Sikkim & Darjeeling. This festival is considered to be of great importance as it shows reverence to not just the humans and the Gods, but also to the animals like cows, crows, and dogs who maintain an intense relationship with humans.

The second day, ”Kukur Tihar”, is dedicated to worshiping and appreciating our four-legged friends, Dogs. They are decorated and given a feast fit for royalty – even to the street dogs! People offer garlands, vermilion tika, and delicious food to dogs and acknowledge the cherished relationship between humans and dogs.
